Terms of Service

By accessing or using EZShard ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

EZShard is a personal/hobby project that allows groups to split bulk purchase receipts. Users upload receipts, share room codes, and claim items to calculate fair splits. The Service is provided free of charge and is not a commercial product.

The developer makes no warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, nor regarding the accuracy of any results obtained through it.

Receipt parsing and splitting calculations are provided for convenience only. Users MUST verify all amounts independently. The developer assumes no responsibility for:

• Parsed item names, prices, or quantities
• Tax and discount allocations
• Per-person split amounts
• Settlement balances between participants

You are solely responsible for confirming all calculations before making or requesting any payments.

• Inaccurate receipt parsing or OCR results
• Incorrect split calculations or settlement amounts
• Financial disputes between users
• Unauthorized access to your account or data

Total liability: $0.00.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Violation of these Terms
• Disputes with other users regarding splits, payments, or financial obligations
• Content you upload (receipts, personal information)

You agree not to:

• Upload fraudulent, forged, or manipulated receipts
• Attempt unauthorized access to other accounts or data
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service infrastructure

The developer may terminate or suspend your access at any time, for any reason, without notice. Your right to use the Service ceases immediately upon termination.

These Terms may be modified at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

If any provision is found unenforceable, it shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary. All remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
